North Oakland Now: 05.25.09

oaknorthtree4At last the sun for Memorial Day.

Not too sunny in the news, however.  A Better Oakland posted more gloom about AC Transit’s possible service cuts. Mark your calendar for a public meeting on for Wednesday.

If you want to be heard, there are lots of meetings scheduled for this week. Of course, Oakland North will cover as many  as possible.

If you are sick of all the doom , take a look at today’s Oakland Tribune. There’s a story about a library project for ordinary Californians to share  memories of life here.

Also if you’re a fashion lover and thrifty, there is a clever tip in today’s San Francisco Chronicle on what they call,”fashion swapping.”

Lastly,  let’s pay a homage to OakalndGoods, which has been feeding Oakland residents with community news …a fond farewell!
