Macy’s Great Tree Lighting 2010

Union Square: Geary Street and Powell Street, San Francisco

Santa will throw the switch to light up the 80-foot Shasta White Fir in San Francisco’s Union Square on Friday.  Macy’s Great Tree will be the centerpiece for performances from American Idol winner Katharine McPhee and others.  Cost: free

16th Annual Womyn of Color Arts & Crafts Show 2010

Handmade art, paintings, sculptures, jewelry, and clothing, from women of color, will be displayed and for sale.  Cost: free

Chronicle Books and Diesel Bookstore present Tom Hudgens, Jennie Schacht and Amy Treadwell, authors of The Commonsense Kitchen, D.I.Y Delicious, and Whoopie Pie, respectively.  All three authors will be on hand to sign copies of their books and to share some of their culinary creations.  Cost: free
