Chihuahua Adoption Special
Adoption price: $25

Oakland Animal Services, 1101 29th Avenue, Oakland

Chihuahuas (and Chichuahua mixes) are Special at Oakland Animal Services! OAS, has many adorable chihuahuas and chihuahua mixes looking for good homes, and through December 31st, they are only $25 to adopt (fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, exam, and microchip!). If you’re thinking about adopting a small dog, come visit this weekend. They are open Sunday from 12-5, 1101 29th Avenue, Oakland, regular hours through next week (check our website for specifics). Zanzibar Fairytale Puppet Theater presents Cinderella in a unique theater space — an auto body shop! (Check out Oakland North’s previous coverage here.) More information about show times and tickets here.

Holiday Workshop: Ring in the New Year

1-4 pm
$8 per child, free for members

Kids can make their own hats and noisemakers for New Year’s Eve. More information here.

ZooLights Christmas Light Show

5:30 to 9 pm
Oakland Zoo: 9777 Golf Links Road, Oakland

ZooLights runs from December 3 through January 2, except for December 24 and 25.  The zoo boasts over 120 lighted animal structures along with the Snowball Express – a miniature steam engine train – giant toy soldiers, and oversized candy canes, lollipops, and gingerbread cookies.  Cost: adults $7.50, kids and seniors $5.50
