Community photo of the week: Pets and Pride

Every week, Oakland North will publish a photo submitted by one of our readers. This week’s photo was submitted by Leah Hall and was taken by photographer and SPCA volunteer Belkizq Quintanella at Oakland Pride on Sunday.

Hall writes, “I am in the photo (holding Stewart, a Chihuahua mix) and my daughter, Simone, age 12 who is holding Nala, a Shitzu mix.  As can be seen by the t-shirts we are wearing, we were here to volunteer with the East Bay SPCA Adoption Event at the Oakland Pride Fair. Stewart isn’t too sure about the fellow in the sequins.

Simone is in 7th grade and attends St. Paul’s Episcopal School (grades K-8) a few blocks away from where this fair was held this year.  We are also members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, a parish that welcomes the LGBTQ community with open hearts and minds.”

If you’d like to contribute to “community photo of the week,” just send a favorite photograph taken in Oakland to staff@oaklandnorth.net with the subject: PHOTO. Please make all photographs large-sized and in jpeg format. Oakland North cannot pay for community photos, except in gratitude and local love.
