Greening of 40th St Median

on June 8, 2009

The residents of the Longfellow neighborhood got together on Saturday June 6th to bring a greening revolution to the median strip on 40th and Market streets.
Neighbors participated by donating labor, drought resistant plants, cash donations, gardening tools, food, and extra supplies to make this event happen.
The turnout was great and there was a sense of community building and civic engagement throughout. The residents of Longfellow really took action to change a strip of their neighborhood that was ugly, sad and obviously forgotten.
