Artist Sadie Barnette created this work at the Oakland Museum of California using pages of her father's FBI file. Barnette's father was a member of the Los Angeles BPP targeted by the Bureau's COINTELPRO, which targeted the party and other "suspected subversives" for surveillance and manipulated targets through the use of fake letters intended to spread discord and sometimes violence.
