Oakland Bites: Your Best Picnic Spots

on April 20, 2009

I spent this afternoon in Mountain View Cemetery working on a project with a classmate, and it was breathtaking. It may seem a little weird to think about a leisurely stroll through a cemetery, but this one–designed by none other than Frederick Law Olmstead–is like nothing I’ve ever seen, and there are people biking, strolling, dog-walking and even having picnics all over the place. Now a cemetery would not necessarily be my first idea for a picnic spot, but it got me thinking that given the sweltering weather, I should get outside somewhere. Besides obvious spots like Lake Merritt, what are your go-to picnic spots in Oakland and around the Bay?

Fun and excitement is the name of the game when you go on picnics. Having such an economic crisis, everyone wants to save money for the things most likely needed. Picnics are one way to help you save a little bit of money while having fun.. The best part about picnics is that it really does help bond a family together through spending time together outside! Dont for get to bring your picnic baskets and be delighted.
