North Oakland Now 06.01.09

on June 1, 2009

Welcome to June, Oakland, and take heart – the Parkway theater may get a second chance at life. Check out the Trib article to learn more and fill out a survey at the Parkway website to give feedback about what you would want to see.  The most popular things so far are beer and couches. (Surprise, surprise.)

And speaking of beer – and food items – check out this list of new and upcoming restaurants, including a few in North Oakland.

In other matters, the city council budget workshop continues at 4 p.m. today in the council chambers.  At the end of Thursday’s marathon six-hour session, Council President Jane Brunner asked that all councilmembers come back prepared with priorities of things to cut and things to save.  Hopefully some progress will be made, because time is flying by as the end of the fiscal year approaches on June 30. Check out what one Oakland resident has to say in local blog here.
