11.23.09: The break is nearly upon us.

on November 23, 2009

Good morning North Oakland,

Happy Thanksgiving week to all of you! As we all prepare for a shorter week, here are a few newsworthy items that caught our attention this morning.

  • Oakland city offices will be open November 23, 24, and 25 (Monday – Wednesday) but closed on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holidays.
  • The city’s annual Thanksgiving dinner is tomorrow, November 24, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Mariott. A PDF with more information is online at the city website.
  • Still worried about that S-curve or parts of the Bay Bridge falling down? Turns out you aren’t alone. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that gephyrophobia, or the persistent fear of crossing bridges, is affecting people in the Bay Area after the Bay Bridge closure in late October.

Oakland North welcomes comments from our readers, but we ask users to keep all discussion civil and on-topic.
