The staff of Oakland North is embarking on a special project to document 24 hours in the life of Oakland. Starting on Sunday April 25 at 11 am and continuing until Monday April 26 at 11 am, we’ll fan out across Oakland and attempt to capture the essence of this place we call home.
The final project will be a website highlighting the city via audio, video and pictures. This is where you come in. We want to see your images of Oakland shot during this 24 hour period. So, mark your calendar, set your watch and stock up on some extra compact flash cards.
We will post the details on how you can send us your images after Monday April 26th. Questions? Contact us at staff@oaklandnorth.net.

I noticed someone taking photos for your project yesterday, but she was not getting model releases from the people she photographed, including me. I’m a little concerned about that.

Was this in a public place? Can you explain the circumstances. In general, model releases are only required for images that are being used for profit/commercial purposes. This is a community project for our news site.
