Strolling Carolers Lunchtime Performance
11 am to 1 pm
Oakland City Center: 12th Street and Clay Street, Oakland

Every Tuesday and Friday through December 21st, carolers will serenade lunch goers.  Cost: free

Live Piano Concert
4:30 to 6:30 pm
Shorenstein Building Lobby: 1111 Broadway, Oakland

Come listen to free music every Monday and Thursday from 11:30 to 1:30 pm and every Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 pm through December 21st.  Cost: free

Holiday Pop Up at Jack London Square
5 to 9 pm
Jack London Square: 54 Washington St., Jack London Square, Oakland

Local Oakland vendors will be selling men’s and women’s clothes, accessories, stuff for kids, art, and holiday gifts.  15 percent of all purchases will be donated to Wardrobe for Opportunity.  Cost: free

Jack London Square Holiday Festival
5:30 to 7:30 pm
Jack London Square: Franklin Street and Water Street, Oakland

The festival will include live music, a special preview of the Oakland Children’s Holiday Parade floats and costumed characters.  At 6 pm city officials will light up the Christmas tree.  Cost: free

Temescal Winter Art Hop
6 to 9 pm
Temescal and Telegraph Business District: Telegraph Avenue and Shattuck Avenue, Oakland

Art will be displayed at 15 Temescal locations.  Participating locations: Slate, Smokeys Tangle, 4707, 482, 57th Street Gallery, Royal Nonesuch Gallery, Remedy Café, Good Belles Oakland, It’s Your Move, Lot 49, Desa Arts, 17 Jewels Salon, East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse, Ruby’s Garden, Oakland Under $100 (Temescal Art Center).  Cost: free

Jingletown 5th Annual ArtWalk Reception
6 to 9 pm
420 Gallery: 420 Peterson Street, Oakland

The reception kicks off Jingletown’s Holiday ArtWalk, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm. Come get a sneak peak of the art and enjoy live music by folk and acapella band the T-Sisters.  Cost: free

French Miami Free Concert Night
Doors open at 6 pm, show at 9 pm
The Uptown: 1928 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland

After this month’s Art Murmur the Uptown is offering a free concert.  This month, French Miami performs with Dangermaker, Parentz, and Elephant and Castle.  Cost: free

Saturday 12/4

Sick Plant Clinic
9 am to 12 pm
UC Botanical Garden: 200 Centennial Drive, Berkeley

Bring your sick and dying plants to Dr. Raabe for his monthly Sick Plant Clinic.  Entomologists will also be available.  Cost: free

Multicultural Health and Wellness Fair
10 am to 4 pm
Clinton Park: 655 International Boulevard, Oakland

Hosted by Community Health for Asian Americans, the East Bay Refugee Forum, and other agencies, the health fair will provide: basic health care screenings, yoga, music, cultural performances, food, Tai Chi, massage, children’s activities video storytelling, and health workshops.  Pat Kernighan will be there to help serve over 350 refugees and immigrants.  Cost: free

Learn What To Do if the Cops Stop You

North Oakland Arlington Medical Center/North Oakland Farmer’s Market: 5715 Market St, Oakland

Berkeley Copwatch will provide training in knowing your rights as well as information about cop brutality.  Cost: free

5th Annual Jingletown Holiday ArtWalk
11 am to 6 pm (Also on Sunday)
Jingletown: Glascock Street, Oakland

Studios will be open to showcase 30 artists from the area.  Cost: free

SantaCon 2010: City-Wide Santa Pub Crawl
12:12 pm to 9 pm
Civic Center Plaza: Larkin Street and Grove Street, San Francisco

A flash mob style event, hundreds of people dressed as Santa will be wandering around San Francisco on Saturday.  There are rules: A full Santa suit must be worn, a hat is not enough.  Cost: free

11th Annual Oakland Holiday Parade
2 pm start
Oakland’s Chinatown District: Broadway and 11th Street to Harrison Street, Oakland

There will be giant helium balloons, marching bands, live characters, and dancers at Oakland’s Holiday Parade.  Cost: free

510 Holiday Party
6 pm to 11 pm
fiftyseven-thirtythree: 4125 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland

The clothing store, fiftyseven-thirtythree, needs help decorating their tree.  Donate a Christmas ornament on Saturday and get 30% off any item in the store and a free mimosa.  Cost: free

Sunday 12/5

Snow Day in Berkeley
10 am to 3 pm
Andronico’s Parking Lot: 1550 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley

Snow is predicted to “gently” fall in Andronico’s parking lot, so bring your mittens.  Cost: free

Free PIXAR Exhibit Day
11 am to 5 pm
Oakland Museum of California: 1000 Oak Street, Oakland

There are a limited number of free tickets so get there early.  Cost: free

Book Signing with Local Horror Author AJ Harper
4 pm to 6 pm
Laurel Bookstore: 4100 MacArthur Boulevard, Oakland

AJ Harper, a Bay Area author, will be signing two books, “Night Biters” and “Were Wolves the Mix Tape,” from his Tale of Urban Horror series.  Cost: free
