Adoptable animal of the week: Pablo

on April 12, 2011

Oakland North is continuing with our feature. Every Tuesday, Oakland Animal Services will spotlight an “Animal of the Week” that’s up for adoption at their facility.  This week it’s Pablo:

Pablo is a medium-sized Chow mix that came to Oakland Animal Services as a puppy with a broken leg and quickly won over many of the shelter’s volunteers. Once his leg healed he became available for adoption but has yet to find a home. Now 9-months-old, Pablo is growing up at Oakland Animal Services. Even though he’d do best in a home because of his good nature, he is doing well in the shelter and is excelling at his training classes. He already knows “sit,” “down,” and “look” and is quickly catching onto “wait” and “come.” He loves to make people laugh by playing tug or throwing rope toys in the air. Pablo still needs some work on his leash manners but Oakland Animal Services volunteers are certain that with a little more work he could pick it up. He would make a great running or hiking companion and could do well as a second dog. Please consider giving Pablo a home. For more photos of him, click here. Visit Oakland Animal Services at 1101 29th Avenue, Oakland, CA and ask to see Pablo. You can also go to www.oaklandanimalservices.org.

Part of the Oakland Police Department, Oakland Animal Services is both an Animal Control unit—which is in charge of the city’s public safety and animal welfare—and a shelter, which helps abused, neglected and abandoned animals within its facility.
