Community photo of the week: Kwik Way Lights Up

on May 4, 2011

Oakland North is continuing with our feature. Every Wednesday, we will publish a photo submitted by one of our readers. This week’s photo is by Mark Gartland.

Gartland took this photo of the Kwik Way that recently opened back up after being closed for a couple of years. “It reminded me of a popular song from the 80’s by an infamous Santa Barbara band named The Puppies … ‘my favorite color is neon green,’” he says. “And neon green is now casting a warm glow over the palm trees and burger seekers in the Grand Lake district of Oakland.” To see more photos by Gartland, check out his blog.

If you’d like to contribute to “community photo of the week,” just send a favorite photograph taken in Oakland to dara.kerr@oaklandnorth.net with the subject: PHOTO. Please make all photographs large-sized and in jpeg format.
