Community photo of the week: Reflections of sky
on May 18, 2011
Oakland North is continuing with our feature. Every Wednesday, we will publish a photo submitted by one of our readers. This week’s photo is by Sara Ferguson.
Ferguson says she explores around Oakland a lot but had never seen this mural before, since it’s in a fairly out of the way spot on 27th Street and Broadway Avenue in East Oakland. It was a sunny day when she took this photo, she says, “almost exactly like the one depicted in the mural, so it made for an interesting shot.”
According to the Oakland Art Trust website, this mural painting of Lake Merritt was painted by local muralist Dan Fontes on the wall of an auto dealership building and was commissioned by the Oakland Redevelopment Agency.
