Happy Fourth of July, Oakland!

Happy Independence Day to all of our readers! If you’re looking for something fun to do in Oakland or nearby, check out a few of the public events that will be going on today. July 4th Festival of Family Fun
11 am – 4 pm
Jack London Square, Oakland

All kinds of events for kids including a petting zoo, hula hoop dancing, jump houses, magic tricks, acrobats, clowns and more (but no fireworks.) More info here.

Pardee Patriotic Picnic
noon – 4 pm
Pardee Home Museum: 671 11th Street, Oakland

An ice cream social and picnic at a historic estate, with lawn games, crafts for kids, and music by Ann Gibson and Frank Hodges. More info and ticket prices here.

Oakland Municipal Band Fourth of July Concert
1 -3 pm
Edoff Memorial Bandstand, Lakeside Park, Lake Merritt, Oakland

The Oakland Municipal Band kicks off its free summer concert series with a Fourth of July show specializing in patriotic music and other Independence Day classics, including a musical background for a reading of the Gettysburg Address by Mayor Jean Quan. More info here.

4th of July Oakland Day Concert & BBQ
1 – 8 pm
The New Parish & Hibiscus, 579 18th Street, Oakland

An all day festival with music and deejays including DJ Ambidekstress, DJ Aebldee, DJ Empire, Rayven Justice, flo, League 510 and more. More info about prices and menu here.

USS Hornet Fourth of July Party
11 am – 10 pm
707 W. Hornet Avenue, Alameda

Celebrate the Fourth on a vintage aircraft carrier with live music on several decks, including 1930s classics, rock and roll oldies, sea shanties and more, plus a view of the fireworks across the bay.More info and ticket prices here.

Alameda Fourth of July Parade
10 am

Floats, dancers, horseback riders, bands and vintage cars take part in the city of Alameda’s annual parade. More info and parade route here. Followed by the Jumpin’ and Jivin’ Jubilee at Rittler Park from noon – 4 pm with games, crafts and other family fun. More info on the jubilee here.

Fourth of July at the Berkeley Marina
noon – 1o pm
Berkeley Marina

A full day of events including music, food, drafts, dragonboat rowing and a fireworks show at 9:35 pm. Adventure Playground will be open from 11 am – 8 pm. More information here.
