Community Photo of the Week: Lighted Yachts

on December 7, 2011

Oakland North is continuing with our feature. Every week, we will publish a photo submitted by one of our readers. This week’s photo is by Jim Ringland.

Ringland snapped this photo of yachts on the estuary during the Lighted Yacht Parade at Jack London Square on December 3. He noted in an e-mail that none of the lighted objects in the picture are his. “I was just down there enjoying the festivities and watching my wife carol in a group that is a spin-off from the Oakland Symphony Chorus,” Ringland wrote in an e-mail.

If you’d like to contribute to “community photo of the week,” just send a favorite photograph taken in Oakland to with the subject: PHOTO. Please make all photographs large-sized and in jpeg format.

You should double-check your content. I am Jim’s wife and my name is not Carol. I was in Jack London Square “caroling” – singing Christmas music – as a member of TOSCA (The Oakland Symphony Chorus Alacarte), a small group composed of members of the Oakland Symphony Chorus.
