Community photo of the week: Obama marquee

on August 8, 2012

Every week, Oakland North will publish a photo submitted by one of our readers. This week’s photo is by Isaak Gartland.

Isaak’s dad, Mark Gartland, sent this photo in on behalf of his son, Isaak, who shot this photo of the Fox Theater marquee during President Barack Obama’s July campaign visit to downtown Oakland. He writes, “He’s a 12 year-old Instagram fanatic and student at OSA.The whole family (besides me who had to work) went to see Obama at the Fox. He goes to school in the Fox Theater and loves the building, especially the kiosk (which he made a cardboard sculpture of a few months back).”

If you’d like to contribute to “community photo of the week,” just send a favorite photograph taken in Oakland to staff@oaklandnorth.net with the subject: PHOTO. Oakland North cannot pay for community photos, except in gratitude and local love.
