Adoptable animal of the week: Yoshimi

on March 26, 2013

Oakland North is continuing with our feature. Every week, Oakland Animal Services will spotlight an “Animal of the Week” that’s up for adoption at their facility. This week it’s a cat named Yoshimi.

Yoshimi is a smart & loyal girl, approximately 2-3 years old, who is part Maine Coon and part Samurai warrior. Like all good samurai, Yoshimi cautiously observes her surroundings before settling in. Once she feels safe, however, she is very affectionate – she loves to snuggle close to her human and give gentle kitty-cat massages with her powerful paws. While Yoshimi can be quite playful at times, she is rather undemanding and mellow for a Maine Coon. She is the kind of cat who is quite content to keep herself occupied while you are at work, as long as you provide her with some quality play-time and chin-scratches when you come home. Yoshimi will do best as an only pet in a home with mature children.

For more information on Yoshimi, visit her Petfinder profile, here: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/25609158  or visit Oakland Animal Services at 1101 29th Avenue, Oakland, CA.

The total adoption fee for Yoshimi is $35. She has been spayed, microchipped, is current on her vaccinations and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. To adopt, all household members must meet with Yoshimi, whether family or roommates.

Part of the Oakland Police Department, Oakland Animal Services is both an Animal Control unit–which is in charge of the city’s public safety and animal welfare–and a shelter, which helps abused, neglected and abandoned animals within its facility.
