Adoptable animal of the week: Lionel

Oakland North is continuing with our feature. Every week, Oakland Animal Services will spotlight an “Animal of the Week” that’s up for adoption at their facility. This week it’s a cat named Lionel.

Lionel is a sweet and social guy, approximately 4 to 5-years-old, who loves to hang out and snuggle.  His amazing ear tufts may make him look a bit crazy, but he is one of the gentlest and most loving cats around.  Lionel loves to greet volunteers with a gentle and inviting head-butt before settling into their lap for a good snuggle and some chin-scratches.  When his motor really starts to run, he will sometimes drool with pleasure at having found such a happy place, then return the kindness by giving his human a gentle kitty-cat massage.  Lionel is a mellow guy who will do well with a first-time cat guardian or anyone looking for the perfect TV-buddy.

Lionel has been neutered, microchipped, is current on his vaccinations and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.  The total adoption fee for Lionel is $35.  To adopt, all household members must meet with Lionel, whether family or roommates.

Part of the Oakland Police Department, Oakland Animal Services is both an Animal Control unit–which is in charge of the city’s public safety and animal welfare–and a shelter, which helps abused, neglected and abandoned animals within its facility.
