Broadway closure to night traffic extended

on April 21, 2011

Over the past seven weeks, the stretch of Broadway between MacArthur Boulevard and Piedmont Avenue was closed on weeknights because of construction for the Kaiser Permanente Hospital replacement project. The closures were expected to last through April 15. However, due to weather delays construction activities have been extended.

Now, Broadway nighttime closures will continue through April 22, along with one additional night of street work next week and another the following week. Northbound Broadway is closed from 10 pm to 6 am and Southbound is closed from 7 pm to 6 am. Traffic will be re-routed to Piedmont and Telegraph Avenues.

During the daytime, Broadway lanes are open with some single lane closures in construction areas—this is expected to last through May. Parking and pedestrian access is not affected.
