3.25.2010 Big week for Oakland sports
on March 25, 2010
What a week for sports in Oakland! First came the announcement that the Golden State Warriors are for sale. Today the Chron’s C.W. Nevius is reporting that some of the team’s potential buyers are scoping a spot near AT&T Park, a hint that the team could move to San Francisco.
This weekend brings us the Oakland Running Festival, also known as the Oakland Marathon, the first the city will host in 25 years. Oakland North will be there to cover the races, and we’ll also bring you a very special preview treat this week. For some history about the marathon’s return to Oakland, check out this story by Oakland North reporter Paige Ricks, who got the scoop when the marathon’s comeback was announced last fall. If you expect to be driving, not running, around Oakland this weekend, street closure information is available here.
Stay tuned for another great sports story coming up on Oakland North this week, as reporter Ryan Phillips takes you inside an Oakland high school basketball home game.
In the meantime, talk to us — what do you think about the sale of the Warriors? Are any of you going to participate in the marathon?
