Community Photo of the Week: Oakland Geyser
on September 28, 2011
Oakland North is continuing with our feature. Every Wednesday, we will publish a photo submitted by one of our readers. This week’s photo is by Michael Thorn.
Thorn took this photo of a fire hydrant exploding after it was hit by a car on Martin Luther King, Jr. Way near 40th Street on August 20. “It only took 30 minutes for the firemen to show up, so I was impressed with that,” Thorn wrote in an e-mail. “Given Oakland’s budget issues, I didn’t expect anyone from the city to show for at least two hours.”
