Oakland city workers strike continues

on December 8, 2017

Oakland City workers represented by SEIU Local 1021, with the solidarity of IBEW 1245 workers, have been participating in an unfair labor practice strike for the last four days, while IFPTE Local 21 has participated in a sympathy strike.

The city and the union have agreed to a four percent salary increase in the first year, but disagree on increasing for the second year. The city  has offered a 2 percent increase, but the union is proposing 4 percent.

The strike began on December 5 and will continue until the unions and the city come to an agreement. Until then all group municipal services are closed. Click the video above to see images from the strike’s first day.
