Meet the Breathmobile, an asthma clinic on wheels

on May 9, 2018

Asthma is a disease that  irritates the respiratory system and makes it difficult to breathe. According to the Centers for Disease Control, it’s one of the most common chronic illnesses in America, with nearly 25 million people affected. Here in the Bay Area, low-income populations and people of color suffer most from asthma, but have a challenging time getting treatment. Kaitlin Benz met some people behind a mobile clinic called the Breathmobile who are trying to change that. Click the audio player at right to hear their story.

To find out if the Breathmobile is coming to a school near you, check out their website here.

Kaitlin Benz spoke to local medical professionals about who is suffering the most when it comes to asthma care, and what they’re doing to tackle some of those challenges head on. This story was originally reported for 90.7 KALX.
