Oakland Museum hosts retrospective of comic artist Daniel Clowes

The Oakland Museum of California is hosting the first museum retrospective of comic artist Daniel Clowes. The exhibition, curated by Susan Miller, features all the key artwork in the career of the celebrated cartoonist who is based in Oakland, and includes 100 original pieces from 1989 to 2011.
Throughout his 25-year career, Clowes has published nearly 50 comic books and collections, translated into several languages. As a screenwriter, he was nominated along with filmmaker Terry Zwigoff for an Academy Award for the screenplay of his book Ghost World and is now working on the adaptation of Wilson, which will be filmed in Oakland with director Alexander Payne.
The exhibition will be on view until August 12.
