Oakland police said today that Paris Powell, the man who was shot early Wednesday morning while serving food to the homeless, died of his injuries in the hospital later that night.

Two men have been charged with murder in the death of Monica Rodas, whose body was found burned on the 5800 block of Ivanhoe in North Oakland on July 14, the Oakland Police announced today.
According to a press release issued by the Oakland Police Department Tuesday evening, two men are being held in connection with the July 14 murder of Monica Rodas, whose body was found burning on a residential Rockridge Street last week.
The Oakland Police Department today identified Monica Rodas, 21, of Union City, as the woman found burned on a Rockridge street early Thursday morning.
