After a rash of burglaries and three shootings in North Oakland’s Golden Gate and Bushrod neighborhoods, residents have a chance to voice concerns.
“We’re not sure what happened. We still need to interview one of the victims and are trying to speak with some witnesses,” said Anthony Toribio, Patrol Division Captain for Area 1, responsible for North and West Oakland.
The Oakland Raiders and Mrs. Fields Cookies helped the Oakland Children’s Hospital celebrate its 50-year anniversary Tuesday morning. Raiders players paid a visit to the hospital’s atrium, where patients and staff were treated to cookies and snuggly, eye-patch-wearing teddy bears.
An 18 year-old man was shot in the jaw and fell onto the Oakland-bound lane in the 5800 block of Shattuck Avenue yesterday afternoon. His friend, 19, was shot in the stomach. Both are expected to survive, police said.
