Community photo of the week: Gay pride flag raising at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church
on June 8, 2011
Oakland North is continuing with our feature. Every Wednesday, we will publish a photo submitted by one of our readers. This week’s photo is by Leah Hall.
Hall, who works at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oakland, snapped this photo as the church raised a rainbow flag over it’s building to celebrate gay pride month. Hall says that last week the church had its second annual flag raising ceremony to honor the LGBT community. “Raising the flag, though a symbolic gesture, is a powerful one,” says Hall.
