Friends of Berkeley resident Anthony Michael Martin are asking for help finding the former professional cyclist who they say has been missing since Saturday afternoon.
According to a news release sent out by friends, Martin may have been riding his bike in the Oakland or Berkeley hills when he disappeared. His cell phone was found by a cyclist on Tunnel Road in Berkeley on Saturday.
Martin, who goes by the first name “Mike,” is described as 29 years old, six feet tall, slender, with brown hair and brown eyes. If he went missing while cycling, his friends believe he would be riding a fluorescent green and white road bike and be wearing street clothes, a grey and blue helmet, white cycling shoes, and possibly be wearing a blue Mountain Hardware backpack.
Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to call the Berkeley Police Department at (510) 981-5900.
Updated Tuesday evening, with more info about the search from the Berkeley Police Department and Martin’s girlfriend.
