Temescal Produce Market opens at 51st and Telegraph
on November 10, 2009
A new organic and natural food grocery store just opened on 51st and Telegraph. Owner Jamal Ahmed said that it was just time for this neighborhood to have a shop. The shelves were brimming with bright produce and brands familiar to anyone who shops the organic aisles at larger chain stores: Annie’s Shells, Yogi Tea, Nancy’s Yogurt.
The small store was bright and full without being cluttered and had stands to offer the Temescal neighborhood a more convenient slice of what is available at Berkeley Bowl.
A flier for the new store advertises that it’s open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and offers a coupon for $5 off a purchase of $25 or more. It also notes that debit, credit, EBT, and food stamps will be gladly accepted.
