A birthday party gone wrong: Police arrested a 15-year-old girl for shooting 18-year-old Davante Riley. Riley was celebrating his 18th birthday at an East Oakland apartment.

City Council may vote to breathe new life into the Civic Walk housing project by providing a substantial loan.

Follow up: North Oakland Now reported Saturday that a 59-year-old San Francisco man had been brutally attacked on Telegraph Avenue. Today the Chronicle has a full report.
