Crematorium project likely to move forward

The Superior Court of Alameda County issued a decision at the end of August in favor of the company seeking to build a crematorium at 9850 Kitty Lane in East Oakland, making it more likely that the project will move forward.

Energy innovators shine at Solar Hackathon ’13

Amid the clacking of keys and the slurping of Red Bull energy drinks, about 30 computer hackers recently gathered in Oakland. Their goal: to make solar energy easier, cheaper and more fun to use. Condemned project housing reopens as art gallery

Chipped paint, metal bars and boarded windows and doors are all that’s left of Greenside, a notorious housing complex in East Oakland that was condemned and shuttered 10 years ago. Now, Oakland native and internationally- renowned artist Ise Lyfe has returned to his hometown to convert the dilapidated buildings into a work of art.
