With the holiday season in full swing, Oakland North decided to take a trip across Oakland and share with its readers some of the decorations, festivities, holiday duties, and acts of goodwill and generosity that its residents are taking part in.

The staff of Oakland North is embarking on a special project to document 24 hours in the life of Oakland. Starting on Sunday April 25 at 11 am and continuing until Monday April 26 at 11 am, we’ll fan out across Oakland and attempt to capture the essence of this place we call home.

Assault victim update

The San Francisco man assaulted on Telegraph Avenue last Saturday died today at Oakland’s Highland Hospital. Yesterday, police arrested two 18-year-old suspects. The Chronicle has the full report.
