In Oakland, the Queer Gym is coping with President Donald Trump’s recent rollback to former President Barack Obama’s guidelines last year on transgender bathrooms. The Oakland Athletics and their fan base took to Jack London Square on January 28 to celebrate the beginning of the upcoming 2017 baseball campaign. It was the first time in nearly two decades that the A’s held their annual festival in Jack London Square, the potential home of a new A’s stadium.

On October 8, California Canoe & Kayak hosted their 14th annual Support Strokes event in hopes of raising $15000 for the Charlotte Maxwell Clinic. The funds raised at will allow the clinic to continue to provide free cancer care services to low income women in Oakland.
